Job Summary
The Senior Specialist will act as a subject‑matter expert and technical leader within assigned projects or specialist domains to ensure product safety, compliance and high performance. The role will drive specialised activities across the project lifecycle, support cross‑functional teams with technical input, and ensure robust verification, validation and continuous improvement practices are applied for new product introductions and changes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide in‑depth technical input to project planning, design reviews and verification strategies to ensure conformity with safety, regulatory and customer requirements.
Lead and facilitate cross‑functional technical gates, workshops and issue‑resolution meetings with engineering, quality, manufacturing and suppliers.
Define, maintain and ensure traceability of technical requirements, interfaces and specifications between requirements, design, test and production documentation.
Conduct and support risk assessment activities (e.g., DFMEA/PFMEA) and work with stakeholders to implement effective mitigation actions.
Develop, review and oversee test plans, validation protocols and qualification activities to demonstrate compliance with internal standards and customer expectations.
Support supplier technical interactions including capability assessments, design reviews and resolution of supplier‑related issues.
Investigate technical or quality issues during development and launch, lead root cause analysis and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
Monitor specialist metrics, prepare regular reports for project leadership and escalate technical risks when required.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability, manufacturability and cost‑effectiveness within the specialist domain.
Share knowledge and provide coaching to colleagues, promoting best practices, engineering standards and continuous learning.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong technical background in product development or process engineering within automotive or other safety‑critical industries.
Experience with systems engineering, requirements management and design verification practices.
Proven ability to influence and collaborate with cross‑functional teams including engineering, quality and manufacturing.
Good analytical and problem‑solving skills with practical experience in root cause analysis techniques.
Proficiency with MS Office tools; experience with PLM/ERP systems and relevant engineering or testing tools is desirable.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to present technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a deadline‑driven environment.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Science or a related discipline; relevant professional certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, specialist qualifications) are an advantage.
Experience
Typically 6+ years of relevant experience in specialist or senior engineering/quality roles within product development or project environments; experience in automotive or safety‑critical products is preferred.
