About the Role
Autoliv is looking for an experienced Launch Project Quality Engineer to join our team in Bengaluru. This role will be a key member of the AS100/New Projects Cross Functional Team (CFT), ensuring product and manufacturing process quality from project initiation through successful launch and handover to production.
As a Launch Project Quality Engineer, you will represent the voice of the customer and the manufacturing process within new product development projects. You will be responsible for ensuring quality requirements are integrated throughout the project lifecycle, driving proactive quality actions, and supporting a seamless transition to serial production.
Key Responsibilities
Participate actively in AS100 Project CFT activities from TG0 through TG4.
Represent plant quality requirements and concerns throughout project execution.
Participate in Design Reviews (DR1, DR2, DR3) according to AS130.
Ensure alignment between DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Critical Characteristics (CC/SC), and engineering drawings.
Develop and maintain prototype, pre-production, and production control plans.
Cascade customer-specific quality requirements to manufacturing operations.
Ensure prototype and production parts comply with approved specifications.
Support customer APQP activities and PPAP preparation/submissions.
Lead and facilitate problem-solving activities using 8D methodology.
Manage Manufacturing Release Process (AS403).
Review and approve PPAP documentation from internal suppliers.
Support PFMEA Go, See & Fix activities according to AS106.
Ensure compliance with Traceability, COP/LAT, and IIP requirements.
Support customer visits, trial runs, run-at-rate activities, and launch readiness reviews.
Lead quality handover activities to Production Quality during Phase 4 of the project.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
AIAG Core Tools knowledge/certification preferred.
Understanding of Customer Specific Requirements (CSR).
Technical Competencies
Strong problem-solving skills and 8D methodology knowledge.
Expertise in automotive product assembly and functionality.
Knowledge of Customer Quality Systems and Production Systems.
Understanding of automotive industry standards and certification requirements.
Proficiency in GD&T, metrology, measurement systems, and gauging.
Experience with product testing and validation processes.
Hands-on knowledge of AIAG Core Tools: FMEA, MSA, PPAP, and SPC.
Good understanding of APQP/APDS processes.
Knowledge of APS and PLM systems.
Strong understanding of Traceability, COP/LAT, and Initial Inspection Process (IIP).
Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management capabilities.
Experience Required
8 to 12 years of experience in the Automotive Industry within a Quality environment.
Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), Launch Quality, APQP, or Project Quality roles.
Knowledge of Core Engineering and/or Applications Engineering would be an advantage.
